Gar Wood

1933 Texaco Gar Wood Race Boat Post card짤1933. Inset portrait of driver GAR WOOD above the U-10 MISS AMERICA X race boat. Captioned "Gar Wood and Miss America X - Winners in the Harmsworth Races of 1933 (Fueled and lubricated by Texaco)".  "Miss America X, the world's fastest speedboat. Length 38 feet, weight 9 쩍 tons. Her four engines aggregate 6,800 horse power - equal to about three times that of a "Twentieth Century" locomotive. In the Harmsworth Trophy race, as well as in the run that set a world's speedboat record, Gar Wood used Texaco Products".

LUMBER

Just picked up the pine planks for my boat benches.  Had to go with "quality" boards instead of select.  Price difference is huge - quality 1x8x8' on sale for about $4.00 each, select grade were running $14.70 each.  I can live with a few tight knots....

I will post some pics as I get them cut, replaned, and fitted...
