LUMBER

Just picked up the pine planks for my boat benches.  Had to go with "quality" boards instead of select.  Price difference is huge - quality 1x8x8' on sale for about $4.00 each, select grade were running $14.70 each.  I can live with a few tight knots....

I will post some pics as I get them cut, replaned, and fitted...

  1. I've been really lazy with the boat work the past couple of months.  It is so hard to get motivated when the winter weather has been so poor.  Every time I go out to my unheated workshop and the air temp is at 20 deg. or less, I just sit there and shiver and contemplate the sailboat, the weather, the state of my garage, when will spring get here, etc.   We ARE finally starting to warm up - the sun is higher in the sky, days are getting warmer, the snow is receeding a little bit (we have about 20-24 inches on the ground right now).  This weekend (of course I work both days 6:30am to 7:30 pm) we are supposed to hit near 40 degrees with possible rain showers!!!   I am contemplating a big garage sale for spring and then a big haul to the dump so that I can claim back a ton of space in the workshop.  When I closed down my flower shop I had so much "stuff" like boxes of ribbon, vases, decorative stuff, etc. that I didn't manage to sell off; was to little to have an auction, but couldn't bear to throw out because so much of it is good quality materials I spent alot of hard-earned money on.   But as "they" say, 'there is a time and a place for everything' and this spring is it...   Later this summer I am going to pull everything out of the garage and install an insulated floor over the concrete padding, put in a woodburner or other heat source, and get back into doing what I love, which is woodworking...  Wish me luck   Andy
