8ft rowing boat

First I build a jig on top of a table added the moulds with cutouts for the keel.gunnels and chines, then fitted the keel, gunnels and the chines cutting them flush to the moulds.

Here is how I built an 8ft wooden rowing boat at home from a book called Small boat building by Dave Gannaway [price new £1.95 I got from Ebay £5 robbers]

  2. Hi , This pictures shows the front thwart, the dark spot on the face is a drain plug although the thwart is sealed [I hope] the plug is to release any water that does escape in, The mid thwart has wooden pins fitted at either side to lock in place in case of capsize, need thwart to be removable as fitting false floor.

  3. I was the owner of the original pram dingy that you are building from my Fathers book " Small Boat Building".
I have many great childhood memories of this dingy and the River's Hamble and Itchen.

  4. Wow, that's pretty cool Mike. Nice to have ya stop in and comment. Are you following in your fathers footsteps in regards to building boats? Have you built a pram to pass down to the youth in your family?

    Thanks for stopping in.

  9. Hi Guys, My name is Dave Gannaway. I am the author 'Small Boat Building' and the designer of the little 8' dingy you are building. I designed and built it originally for my son Mike who could skull this boat with a single oar as fast as a normal rower could pull it! So you might think of cutting a sculling notch in the transom, its great fun. I built a lot of them, they were always safe and popular. Originally it was called the 'John Henry' dingy. Have fun guys and thanks for the memories. Dave G

  10. Your article works great on my study. Yet when I was to read through the other blogs, the explorer turned out to be inaccessible. I didn’t know whether it was my IE explorer issue. Could you help me figure it out? Thank you!.canister vacuum cleaners
