shop clean-up

Tomorrow, Saturday, I actually have the day off so I am going to pull all of the stuff out of my garage that I have crammed in there, fit in all of the metal shelves standing around outside the building and move everything back in.

The object of this seemingly futile excersise is to actually make space around my sailboat hull so I can get back to working on it, assuming I can empty the stuff OUT of it.  Not to mention I have a couple of Christmas projects that need to be finished and all of my power tools are buried in there somewhere.  We are predicted as having temps in the 40's for the next several days so I should have some decent weather to work with.

  1. Andy,

So how did the garage clean up turn out? Did it all fit back in? LOL

  2. Kruez,   As usual, ran into glitches.  Ended up hauling some of my lumber pile from my old store and getting it situated on pallets in the yard.  A lot of redwood, cedar, and a big pile of green=treated (not for boatbuilding).  So no, I still have a mess outside my garage doors.   As a side note, WAY TO GO PACK!!!

  3. What a long emotional game. But it's a win, we'll take it... Go Pack Go! Next up Da I am not confidant that we're ready to beat the Bears, however, "On any given day" it can happen.   My garage has extended out into the driveway and yard as well. My wife and two daughters are very happy about that as you can imagine. Several unfinished projects and my own pile of wood in the garage which requires the boats in the driveway. (4 Total).

Keep at it... You all are my inspiration.

  4. having trouble posting- maybe you folks are bored with me??  Anyway, got the front of the garage cleared away so now I can pull out all of the boxes piled around my sailboat hull, install the shelves I have ready and reorganize so I can get back to work on the boat...

  6. Larry, I actually have a whole weekend off (I do work New years day).  So today I am going to pull out the boat and stare at it and contemplate what I'm going to do for a couple of hours and then I'll go ice fishing...  We are supposed to get rain today and if I'm going to get wet, I'd rather be fishing.  Tomorrow flurries are forcasted so cleaning the garage would be a better prospect.

  7. Well, the  cleanup project continues... got the boat cleared out and a path along each side of it, access to the workbench and power tools, and the garage door closes fully, although "she" seems to be bulging a little at the seams.   I am off Friday and Sunday so plan on doing a little ice fishing and continue working on the framing for seats in the boat!  Can't wait!

  9. Bogs, I live in NW Wisconsin.  Around here we mainly catch panfish like Bluegills, Sunfish, Black crappie, and Lake perch and larger gamefish like Northern pike, Walleyed pike, and Largemouth and Smallmouth bass.  I live on a lake and so basically go out my back door, walk 75 ft. and I am on the ice.   We do have Brown and Brook trout in local streams but I only fish for them in the summer during regular fishing season.  Year round I can drive an hour north to Lake Superior for salmon and Lake trout.   Andy

  10. I am in New York, and used to travel a couple of hours upstate (from Long
Island) to watch them ice fish in a lake in the mountains. I say used to,
tomorrow's going to 70 degrees around here, not a snowflake in sight down here
yet this year, and none on the horizon yet. Nobody's complaining about the beach
like weather in January in the Northeast. We just can't believe it. How's your
winter up there in the ice fishing realms? Do you have as much as as
    normal?

  11. Jesse,  we've got squat for snowcover, its all melted away and for the last 3 weeks we've been in the twenties at night and above freezing every day.  While we have about 8-10" of ice on the lakes, it is fragile in that it is not "pure" solid ice but has lots of faults, compression ridges, and areas of crumbly stuff.  At this time I only walk on the ice here.  I won't even take a 4 wheeler out.  there are a lot of people who do use snowmobiles and 4 wheelers right now but I don't think I've seen anyone crazy enough to take a car or truck out.   We are predicted to finally settle into a colder air pattern with more moisture so hopefully we'll get more ice and snowfall.  My cross country skiis are just sitting there leaning against the porch...   Andy

And Tomorrow's a beach day here, and I am sweating while kayaking and
    getting sun tanned.
Man, it's a strange old world.

    Happy fishing, & careful walking.
