A new week in the life of a small boatyard.

Like lots of small boatyards it is a time of year for long hours & not a lot of spare time as people want their boats back in the water so they can enjoy their boats after a cold & frosty winter. My boatyard is know different. Owner's saying when my boat going to be ready, will it be in the water by the weekend, as that bit of new equipment been fitted to the boat. The same chorus every year, as usually some how we get there in the end hopefully.

This year with the Olympic Games being in London & the Queen's Diamond Jubilee people appear to be go wanting to enjoy themselves  after the past few years of economical hell.  So it time again the paint & varnish brushes out and don the overalls and get the bottom of the boats anti-fouled and go for a sail.

So time for me to put the pen down and go and get the boats ready for the new season.

Restoring Classic Runabouts

One of my fellow members of the Indiana Chapter of ACBS has an Antique Boat Shop curiously called "The Antique Boat Shop" in Fort Wayne Indiana. They work somewhat exclusively on classic runabouts. Chris-Craft, Century, Gar Wood, etc. The do some very nice work and have a straight forward philosophy.

They have a current projects page (updated regularly) with very detailed descriptions of the boats, the individual histories, and the work intended. They also have a similar page of recent projects. There are a many interesting projects with lots of photos. I've found their project pages to be a very enjoyable read, and I know you will too.

Classic Wooden Boats

I have invited the members of another defunct MSN Group "ClassicWoodenBoats". Give them a warm welcome if the show up.

By show of hands, who likes classic wooden boats?

Was thinking we should start a page and photo album for the Classic Glass Boats as well. What do yous think?
