Need to move this site Again.

To all of you that are still listening,

We need to move this group again.

As most of you know, this site began on MSN Groups back in the day. We have collectively created a wealth of useful information over the 15+ years this Wooden Boat Builder Group has existed. Again, we find ourselves at a crossroads as Multiply has decided to concentrate its efforts on the Market Place that has exploded for them in the asian communities. They will be closing the Multiply social and group communities all together.

We need to entertain the idea of migrating/parking this boat building information at a new search-able venue. I just cant imagine letting it go abandon and deleted.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Kruez

A new week in the life of a small boatyard.

Like lots of small boatyards it is a time of year for long hours & not a lot of spare time as people want their boats back in the water so they can enjoy their boats after a cold & frosty winter. My boatyard is know different. Owner's saying when my boat going to be ready, will it be in the water by the weekend, as that bit of new equipment been fitted to the boat. The same chorus every year, as usually some how we get there in the end hopefully.

This year with the Olympic Games being in London & the Queen's Diamond Jubilee people appear to be go wanting to enjoy themselves  after the past few years of economical hell.  So it time again the paint & varnish brushes out and don the overalls and get the bottom of the boats anti-fouled and go for a sail.

So time for me to put the pen down and go and get the boats ready for the new season.

Now the sun is out, time to do the work on the boat while the sun shines?

  • Now the sun is out, it is time to go down the boatyard and get on with the boat and make a start on getting the refit underway. Firstly check over what the winter has done to the boat, then get the boat aired out and ready to sort out the jobs on the list and make a start.

Check the boat over for work that needs the boat...yard or boat builder to do & get that sorted out. Remember to start to tickle charge the battery up to full power so that when it comes to start sorting out the engine and electrical systems, that you have enough power in the battery to start the engine and get the systems fired back into life.

Also make sure you have all the tools to do the jobs you have set yourself to do to hand & if not you can hire them at a good price when you need them.

Calling all new boat Owners

When you get over the joy of getting your new boat, then you have to sort out the job of running your new boat. The first thing many people over look is their list of on going jobs. Depending on the age of the boat this can be short or long, it also depends on wether its wood or GRP. So if you need to learn how to tackle these jobs & keep the cost of running your new boat down, then call Simon on 01255475020 or 07585506960 today to book on one of his Boat Repair & Maintenace courses. The courses will cover everything from fitting a seacock to replacing a window or hatch. So why not call today.

Now the time of year to think about getting your boating refit job list started

Now is the time to dusk of the cobwebs and look at your list of jobs to do on the boat to get it ready for the spring. As with many lists they are long, with big ideas and hopes. In the real world they will become short and sweet. Many of the jobs appear at first to be easy but then doing them causes many a headache. I have had my fair share of them in the past. This year the list is quiet short just about a dozen jobs. Unlike last year when the job list was about 40 or so jobs.

This year’s list is just a few finishing off jobs like fit a few shelfs in the galley area, fit a lid to the chain locker in the bow, make and fit a custom water tank, get some more ballast to bring the boat down to it’s lines. Sort out the cockpit floor and refit the rubbing stakes and sort the mast out and the running backstays.

So all in all not a bad list to get done by Easter.

Then finally make a new fore hatch.
